Victim in Bridgeport hit-and-run dies of injuries

BRIDGEPORT — A 22-year-old man injured Saturday in a hit-and-run incident has died, police said Wednesday morning.

Kyle Williams Jr. was struck at about 4:39 a.m. on Park Avenue. He died at Bridgeport Hospital on Tuesday, police spokesman William Kaempffer said.

Williams was crossing the street when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. Based on witness accounts, the vehicle sped through the intersection as the traffic signal changed and then struck the victim, Kaempffer said. The driver applied the brakes after the impact and then fled the scene.

The vehicle was described as a Acura Integra with tinted windows.

Investigators are following leads. At this time, no arrests have been made.

Williams was the first of two hit-and-run incidents on Saturday.

Tyron Tate, 21, was struck by a vehicle as he walked in the roadway on Noble Avenue at about 10 p.m. Saturday. Tate was pronounced dead a short time later.

Dennis Berrios, 36, who knew Tate, was charged with evading responsibility. The incident remains under investigation and additional charges are possible, police said.
