Stamford police charged Andre Joseph of Bridgeport’s East Side with first-degree sexual assault and felony risk of injury to a minor after carrying out an early-morning sting operation to lure him to police.

According to police, the victim reported the sexual relationship with Joseph after discovering she was pregnant and suspects Joseph is the father. Police said further DNA testing is needed to prove the paternity of the fetus.

Police said Joseph groomed the girl for years and started a sexual relationship with her when she was 12.

Police took Joseph into custody after employing a rouse to have him pick up a passenger to be taken to John F. Kennedy International Airport. When Joseph arrived around 4:30 a.m. at an abandoned house on a dead end street on the city’s East Side, officers with the department’s Special Investigations Juvenile Unit took him into custody.
