Handshakes: Greenwich shuts out Wilton

|

What a weird week to be a member of the Wilton baseball team.

The Warriors beat St. Joseph Monday, lost to Central Wednesday and then hung tough but lost to Greenwich Friday.

Greenwich did not kill the ball Friday but did enough to win and got a great pitching performance from J.T. Hintzen.

If Greenwich truly has three top starters, look out come playoff time.

  • Left for the game in a short sleeved shirt but the wind made me put on a sweatshirt pregame and run to my car for fleece jacket by fifth inning as a stiff wind was pretty constantly blowing in from right field Friday.

I took a Vine video of the wind. You can find it here on our Twitter page. It is about as exciting as you might imagine a video of wind to be.

  • Ricky Okazaki had three hits including a RBI double in the 7th inning and has been performing well batting in the two hole for the Cardinals.
  • Wilton certainly in the mix in the FCIAC with a long way to go.
  • After facing Ridgefield, St. Joe’s and Wilton this week the Cardinals play McMahon Monday in what is always a good game then take on Darien and Harding to wrap up the week before facing stiffer competition again the week after.
