Staples beats Greenwich

|

A few thoughts from Wakeman Park in Westport.

  • The game between Greenwich and Staples was played off campus due to a track meet at Staples but Wakeman Field is not great for a varsity game. The is no scoreboard so time and score are kept on the sideline. Not an awful set up but not ideal, either. Staples tried to move the game to Wednesday but Greenwich had a conflict.
  • Chase Koorbusch of Greenwich suffered what the Staples trainer called a broken wrist in the second quarter and did not return to the game. Losing the senior Koorbusch could be brutal for an already young Greenwich side.
  • Staples played a well balanced and disciplined game, especially defensively, where they were aggressive but never foolish. Allowing only two goals to Greenwich is outstanding.
