Choosing a nursing home for a loved one is a big decision. The place you select must have a friendly, highly qualified staff that offers top-notch care, treatment, customer service, and patient education. What’s more, the entire Maywood team is dedicated to providing all services and activities in a warm, nurturing, comfortable, healing, and friendly environment. Maywood offers a place where your loved ones — and you, when you visit — feel as comfortable, cared for, and happy as at home.
If you have a loved one in need of short- or long-term care, Maywood has a home for them. The center offers a variety of services, resources, and amenities for patients and residents.
Short- and long-term services
Maywood’s rehabilitation department is committed to promoting the highest level of independent functioning for both short-term and long-term patients.
Short-term patients typically come to Maywood when they require rehabilitative care following hospitalization. Long-term residents are offered skilled nursing care and additional therapies to prevent avoidable decline in function and independence.
Maywood supports and guides each patient and resident on a one-to-one basis, ensuring that all individual needs are met. Maywood’s top priority is that each guest feels as comfortable as he or she would among family while receiving care.
Enrolling at Maywood – what to expect
When residents and patients enroll, the team develops a comprehensive care plan that includes all medical, nursing, rehabilitation, nutritional, psychosocial, and therapeutic needs. Upon admission, each resident is also evaluated by the center’s interdisciplinary team based on need for rehabilitative services in physical, occupational, and/or speech therapy.
Next, a team of therapists carries out restorative or maintenance therapies in conjunction with the resident’s plan of care. The team’s goal is to provide each resident with the means to maintain his/her optimum level of functioning while recovering in the fastest and most comfortable way possible.
Maywood amenities and community
The Maywood staff wants all residents to feel like they’re staying with friends in a home away from home. The center is set up as its own community and offers a variety of amenities, niceties, and activities for residents to enjoy.
The center’s beautiful building houses 120 beds, and rooms are equipped with bedside clocks, flat panel TVs with cable/satellite service, phone service, wifi, and in room meals available 24/7. Residents have the option of sharing a room with a new friend or living in private accommodations.Residents can relax in one of the cozy lounge areas or head to the outdoor patio to chat with friends, read, or play games. Over in the courtyard, residents can participate in planting and harvesting or join in on a fun outdoor activity.
Other activities offered to residents include arts and crafts, cooking and baking groups, exercise in the indoor gym or around the secure grounds, on-site entertainment, pet therapy, religious services, and community trips to fun places in the neighborhood such as restaurants and movie theaters.
In-house services include a barber and beauty shop; daily laundry, housekeeping, and maintenance services; newspaper and mail services; patient and family education; rooms for private celebrations; and a security system.
Every weekday morning, residents wake up to Breakfast Club, with a chef cooking breakfast to order from 7:30–9 a.m. Other daily meals include enhanced dining services with a selective menu.
Maywood Center is located in a safe, residential neighborhood next to the Senior Center, where residents can attend support groups.
An award-winning care team
Maywood recently came under new administration, and the number one goal of each team member is to provide excellent customer service. The award-winning staff is committed to delivering the highest quality of care in a nurturing environment for both patients and families. The team’s priority is sensitivity to the individual needs of each person and his or her family.
In 2016, the center’s dedicated team received a Customer Experience Award from Pinnacle Quality Insights, demonstrating the center’s commitment to the “Four Pillars” of their mission statement: kindness, compassion, service, and excellence.
Passport Rehabilitation Program
Maywood Center is part of the Passport Rehabilitation Program, a National Health Care Associates signature program with one main goal: Getting your loved one healed and home.
The program was designed as a short-term rehabilitation solution for patients following a surgical procedure or minor medical episode. Through this program, your loved one’s rehabilitation is tailored to a series of realistic, short-term achievements based on getting them home. During their rehabilitation “trip,” each patient lives in enhanced accommodations conducive to a swift and healthy recovery.
Passport also takes all the stressful busywork out of your hands. Once a patient is enrolled, Maywood handles all the paperwork for the patient and surgeon by working with Medicare and insurance.
Maywood’s Passport Program includes occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. Passport Program specialties and services offered at Maywood include pulmonary rehabilitation services, neurological impairments, cardiac recovery, respiratory therapy, heart failure services, amputee rehabilitation, IV therapies, orthopedic injuries and post-surgical care, stroke rehabilitation, gastrointestinal disorders, and wound and decubitus management. A cardiologist is also always on-call.
Other rehabilitation and care programs
Maywood’s services are designed to give each patient the skills and abilities needed to live a healthy and fulfilling life. The dedicated staff cater to each person’s unique needs and preferences, providing customized treatment and therapy in comfortable and finely appointed accommodations — all day, every day, as directed by a physician.
Other in-house programs at Maywood Center include pulmonary rehabilitation, heart failure services for CHF, cardiac recovery, amputee rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, wound care management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and more.

During a time of great distress – mom’s illness – we had nowhere to turn. Thank God for Maywood Rehab. Being involved with Maywood professionally, it seemed only reasonable to use a Maywood Facility. I had heard so many positive remarks about the place that it seemed like the only sensible place to go. Mom was sent from hospital to this ‘home away from home’ as she called it. She was so at ease and both the staff and administration made her recovery easier. The food, the people most of all, and the care was exceptional. We developed a friendship, myself and the Administration. I’m president of the Senior Center next door so it only seemed right that we collaborate on making seniors lives better. Nothing but good has come about since our collaboration. She has recommended, and so have many patients and residents to your facility with clear conscience knowing everything possible will be done for their care and well being.
