GIF: This is how Matt Harvey lost his latest no-hit bid

Mets pitcher Matt Harvey was cruising into the late-innings of Tuesday afternoon’s game at Atlanta.

He had thrown 12 strikeouts (including five in a row at one point), and was nine outs away from pitching the second no-hitter in Mets history when this happened with no outs in the bottom of the seventh and the Mets ahead 2-0:

His throw to no one covering first base was ruled an infield hit for Jason Hayward.

No worries, though. Harvey got out of the inning and was eventually lifted in the eighth as the Braves rallied to within 4-3. But the bullpen hung on and Harvey picked up his sixth victory of the season as the Mets won 4-3 in the first game of today’s doubleheader.

Harvey’s line: 7 innings, three hits, three walks, three earned runs and 13 strikeouts. He’s 6-1.
