Quick bringing Stanley Cup to Hamden

Jonathan Quick is bringing the Stanley Cup back to Hamden.

The all-star goalie who helped the Los Angeles Kings win the Holy Grail of hockey for the second time in three years, will show it off Sunday to the fans who watched him star at Hamden High School.

Quick is taking the Stanley Cup to the Louis Astorino Ice Arena from noon to 2 p.m. The event will also serve as a fundraiser for the children of Jason Pagni, a friend of Quick’s who was killed in a motor vehicle accident earlier this year. As is custom, every player on the winning team is allowed to have one day with the Stanley Cup and take it wherever he chooses.

Quick, who was born in Milford, held a private viewing party in Greenwich after the Kings won the Cup in 2012. This time around, hockey fans in Hamden will get a chance to see what is considered by many to be the greatest trophy in all of sports.
