Former Seahawks, more NFL players react to ‘The Call’ that ended Super Bowl XLIX

The whole world was puzzled by the Seattle Seahawks’ decision to pass the ball on second-and-goal from the 1-yard line in the final seconds of Sunday’s Super Bowl XLIX.

With one timeout left and three chances to punch it in with running back Marshawn Lynch, Seattle coaches Pete Carroll and Darrell Bevell opted to call a Russell Wilson pass to receiver Ricardo Lockette on an inside slant through traffic — a pass New England cornerback Malcolm Butler intercepted to secure the 28-24 victory for the Patriots.
