ZZ Top to rock out in Danbury Thursday

Jeff Dunham to perform in Hartford

Ventriloquist and stand-up comedian Jeff Dunham will bring his act to the XL Center in Hartford on Thursday Dec. 29. Tickets will go on sale Friday, Sept. 30, and can be purchased here.

Dunham, a Dallas native, is known for his politically-incorrect, ill-tempered puppet characters — Walter, Peanut, Jose Jalapeno, among others — which he uses during his live act.

CT Ballet hosts ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ auditions

Connecticut Ballet will hold open auditions for children’s roles in its upcoming production of the full-length ballet, “The Sleeping Beauty,” on Saturday, Aug. 28, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Connecticut Ballet Center, 20 Acosta St., Stamford.

Rehearsals will begin in late August and the public performances at the Palace/Stamford Center for the Arts will be Oct. 21-23.

The following is the breakdown of audition times by age and ability: Boys ages 4 to 6 – 2-2:30 p.m., boys and girls ages 8 to 11 – 2:30-3:30 p.m.; girls ages 12 to 16 with a minimum of three years ballet training – 3:30-5 p.m.; adults and teens interested in non-dance character parts – 4:30-5 p.m.

Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and should arrive 15 minutes before the start time. Hair should be properly fastened and dance attire is required. Boys and girls are encouraged to tryout.
