A bevy of Connecticut and New York City emcees will join forces for a concert honoring The Notorious B.I.G. on the anniversary of the rapper’s death.

To be held Friday, March 9 at Acoustic Cafe in Bridgeport, The Big Rap Show will feature performances by Norwalk’s Duece Bug (above, left) with hype man Chuck ‘itzurboi’ Nickels; Bridgeport hip hop duo Metamusick; Top $ Raz of New York City; Sketch tha Cataclysm (above, right) of Waterbury; Connecticut Crime Family of Bridgeport; Mayo Giovanni of New Haven; Sinergyst of Bridgeport; Debo of Milford; and ILLnigma of Hartford.

DJ Syntifik, of Bridgeport, will spin jams by The Notorious B.I.G. throughout the evening. The rapper, whose real name is Christopher Wallace, was shot and killed on March 9, 1997, leaving behind a legacy that has shaped the culture of hip hop.

In addition to the performances, which begin at 8 p.m., Duece Bug is planning to film a scene for his new music video, “Goin In.”

(NOTE: Duece Bug, Metamusick and Sketch tha Cataclysm were all featured on my Favorite Songs of 2011 by Connecticut Artists list).
