The cast of Darien Arts Center’s production of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” has been gearing up for their April 13th opening at the center’s Weatherstone Studio, 2 Renshaw Road, Darien (behind Town Hall).

This is the first time that the musical, with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, will be performed as part of the center’s cabaret series, according to organizers.

Directed by Norwalk resident Stefanie DeLeo, it features musical direction by Wayne Condon of Darien, as well as six area actors. The cast will play more than 20 characters as they make their way through “the modern-day suburban mating game,” as described by the musical’s creators.

Off-Broadway’s long-running musical, the production premiered in 1995 at New Jersey’s American Stage Company, and moved to New Haven’s Long Wharf Theatre the next season. In August 1996, it opened at The Westside Theater.
