Alive@Five openers, Bandapalooza bands announced

After announcing the line-up for Alive@Five last month, Stamford Downtown Special Services District has revealed the opening acts for the annual summer concert series, along with the a list of bands and venues for its upcoming Bandapalooza contest on May 18.

The opening acts confirmed for Alive@Five are PANA! (June 21 with Los Lonely Boys), Jay Loftus (June 28 with G. Love & Special Sauce), Running Late (July 5 with Creedence Clearwater Revisited), Moon Taxi and Emergency Service (July 12 with Matisyahu), Eytan & The Embassy and My Pet Dragon (July 19 with Hot Chelle Rae), Matt Beilis and
Annie Minogue (July 26 with Javier Colon) and Matt O’Ree and Frank Viele & The Manhattan Project (Aug. 2 with Foreigner).

Bandapalooza, a city-wide battle of the bands contest, will decide the three remaining opening acts. Each of 10 bands will play at a different venue in Stamford, beginning tentatively at 8:30 p.m.

Skies For Miles — Bradford’s Grill & Tavern, 83 Bedford St.
Mandated Reporters — Brick House Bar & Grill, 244 Bedford St.

Woods Of Arden — Lucky Break, 268 Atlantic St.
1974 — SBC Downtown Restaurant & Brewery, 131 Summer St.

Andrew Carson exhibits artwork at CityCenter Danbury

An exhibit, “Andrew Carson: Recent Translations,” will be on view through Thursday, May 24, at CityCenter Danbury, 186 Main St.

Carson, a Danbury native, has been painting abstract impressionist works in watercolors, acrylics, oils and mixed media for more than 25 years.

A graduate of Western Connecticut State University, he also studied at the University of Connecticut, Rutgers University, and Southern Connecticut State University.

The viewing hours for the exhibition are 9:30-5 p.m. and admission is free.
