LCD Soundsystem documentary hits Connecticut theaters

The LCD Soundsystem documentary “Shut Up and Play the Hits” will hit several area theaters on July 18 as part of a special one-night-only engagement.

The film, which chronicles the events surrounding the popular dance-punk act’s final show at Madison Square Garden last April, will be screened at the following theaters:

Majestic 6, Stamford, 118 Summer St., Stamford. 203-323-1719.

Rave Connecticut Post 14, 1201 Post Road, Milford. 203-301-5035.

Criterion, 86 Temple St., New Haven. 203-498-2500.

The four-hour concert came just a few months after James Murphy, the frontman and chief songwriter of LCD Soundsystem, called the band quits.

During its 10-year career, the band released three albums — “LCD Soundsystem” (2005), “Sound of Silver” (2007) and “This Is Happening” (2010) — and won three Grammy Awards.
