Newtown children perform on ‘Good Morning America’

A group of 20 Newtown children are hoping to sooth the scars of the recent tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary with their recording of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”

The children, including a few Sandy Hook students and survivors of the Dec. 14 mass shooting, performed the song live Tuesday morning with indie pop singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson during the closing minutes of “Good Morning America” on ABC.

Last week, the children gathered at the home recording studio of Talking Heads’ and Tom Tom Club’s Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz, of Fairfield, to record the song. It can be downloaded here.
