East Hartford resident wows ‘American Idol’ judges

Another Connecticut resident has nailed her audition on “American Idol.”

Ashlee Feliciano, 20, of East Hartford, charmed judges Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban with her rendition of Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Put Your Records On.”

“I don’t think you understand what you just did,” Minaj said immediately after Feliciano finished her audition. “I’m so inspired by you, and I think so many girls will be inspired by you, too.”

Before the judges voted (although telling by their reaction, the good news was all but assured), Jacksosn invited Feliciano’s extended family — including her parents and three biological and four adopted siblings — to join her on stage.

“You’re good people, and it definitely shines in her,” Jackson said.
