In a statement read aloud on the Senate floor, Sen. Teri Boucher (R-Wilton) praised Brubeck as a “celebrated music legend” and a “dearly beloved and admired citizen of the world.”

“He was a true home town and home state hero,” she added.

Brubeck  died on Dec. 5, 2012 at the age of 91, leaving behind a legacy of game-changing jazz music and lifelong community service.
