John Mayer to go back on tour, stop in Hartford

After a three-year hiatus from touring, Bridgeport native John Mayer is heading out on the road again.

The singer/songwriter’s “Born and Raised” tour takes him to Hartford’s Comcast Theatre on Friday, August 16.

Tickets, which cost $75 and $36, go on sale next Friday, March 29 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster, or by calling 800-745-3000.

After suffering a vocal chord injury in fall 2011, Mayer was forced to cancel a planned 2012 tour. He has performed occasionally since then, including an appearance alongside Frank Ocean on Saturday Night Live in October, but he has been largely absent from the stage.

The Grammy Award winner re-entered the spotlight in May 2012 with the release of his fifth studio album, “Born and Raised.” It features the singles “Shadow Days” and “Queen of California.”
