Stamford Artwalk spotlights downtown galleries, local artists

MapRevisedDowntown Stamford’s bars and restaurants have made the area a nightlife hotspot.

But with the galleries and museums that have popped up in recent years — along with an annual outdoor sculpture exhibition — the area is becoming a destination for the visual arts, too.

To showcase the city’s expanding arts movement, galleries, museums and busineses will take part in a celebration, “Artwalk in Stamford Downtown,” on Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15.

The galleries will welcome pedestrians to view their latest exhibitions, while storefronts plan to showcase the work of individual artists. More than 90 painters, photographers and sculptors are featured in the Artwalk.

The event is being held in conjunction with “Downtown Abstractions,” Stamford’s outdoor sculpture exhibition.
