Out and about: Things to see and places to be this weekend

This weekend, you will find art in Norwalk, some laughs in Stamford, a finale fit for P.T. Barnum in Bridgeport and four days of feasting and festivities in New Haven. If you like boats, Mystic Seaport has those. If you like strings and the Sultans who play them, you will want to travel to Westport.

A ground-breaking movie gets a showing and special Q&A in Ridgefield. The concert that never was will be at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre. And Dolly’s back, waiting for a big “hello.” An outdoor “Cyrano” is set to entertain in Stratford. And Carly Rose Sonenclar visits Rye Playland.

Mill River Park’s movie series continues with “Gremlins.” while Darien puts a spotlight on its homegrown talent.

Island Rhythms will be joining with the Hartford Steel Symphony in Middletown. And David Byrne will be joining St. Vincent in Port Chester, N.Y. The 41st annual Reggae Festival returns to Woodbury. The Del McCoury Band will be collaborating as well, in a sense, presenting an historic performance with new Woody Guthrie songs at Caramoor.

You can look to the stars and planets in Stamford, the same city where you can sail across the waters. Or, get your fill of some old homes.

Theatrical moments are plentiful from “Anne of Green Gables” in Sherman to “Some Enchanted Evening: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein” in Danbury. “Becoming Dr. Ruth,” is running in Hartford. ” “SPANK!” comes to Stamford.

See a view of Westport through the eyes of Gabrielle A. Dearborn at the Westport Library. Or hear from the Women of Jazz in White Plains, N.Y.

Until next time …
