Storm clouds lingered above Columbus Park Thursday, but luckily, The Mavericks outpaced the rain.
“It looked like it was going to start coming down,” Raul Malo said as heavy droplets pounded the roof of his band’s tour bus following their set at Alive@Five. “But that didn’t happen. The show turned out great.”
The Mavericks — the genre-bending Grammy-winning Nashville, Tenn. outfit — performed for a small, but celebratory crowd Thursday, swerving from country-blues to Americana to Tex-Mex over the course of their jubilant 1.5-hour set.
