benackIt’s not often you the Brubeck Brothers Quartet perform right in your backyard, so make haste to Stamford’s Columbus Park where the group will perform as part of the Jazz Up July concert series on Wednesday, July 17..

Trumpter and vocalist Benny Benack III, right, will open, along with his band.

Daniel and Chris Brubeck, who grew up in Wilton, are sons of the late jazz legend Dave Brubeck. They are but one-half of the quartet. Joining them are guitarist Mike DeMicco and pianist Chuck Lamb. Last year, the group released the record “LifeTimes,” which featured reimagined works of the senior Brubeck’s long career. Dave Brubeck died at the age of 91 in December.

The gates open at 6 p.m. and the music gets under way a half-hour later. It is $10 to attend, and children 12 and younger are free. Chairs and picnics welcome.

The series continues next Wednesday with Poncho Sanchez and his Latin Jazz Band. Good Neighbor will open.
