Bridgeport’s Rampage Skate Shop got a visit from a heavily tattooed hip hop star Thursday.
It was none other than Wiz Khalifa, who stopped by the store on his way to his performance at Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford.
Khalifa, who is currently traveling with A$AP Rocky, B.O.B., Trinidad James and Joey Bada$$ on the “Under The Influence of Music Tour,” purchased more than $1,200 worth of skateboards, clothes and artwork from Rampage.
Then, the “Black and Yellow” rapper surprised the kids hanging out at the adjoining skate park with a much-appreciated gift.
“He gave 15 of the kids free front row tickets and back stage passes to his show at the Oakdale,” said Dave Peterson, who owns the shop and skate park. “They got autographs and everything.”
Peterson, who was ecstatic over the impromptu visit, added that Khalifa was a “great guy, very down to earth, not a show boat like a lot of other rappers.”
