Brand Nubian to play ‘Summer Groove’ show in Norwalk

|

This one’s for all the Golden Age hip hop heads out there.

Brand Nubian — the trio of Grand Puba, Sadat X and Lord Jamar — is set to perform at “Summer Groove Comedy Show & Concert” at Norwalk Concert Hall on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 8 p.m.

Tickets for the show, which cost $25 for general admission and $30 for preferred seating, can be purchased online or by calling 203-545-1347.

Comedians Rob Stapleton, Brooklyn Mike and Shawn Harvey will perform stand-up sets before the concert.

Hailing from New Rochelle, N.Y., Brand Nubian was part of a movement of socially and politically conscious hip hop groups that emerged in the late 1980s and 1990s. Their debut album, “All For One,” is widely considered to be a classic, earning five mics from The Source and regularly appearing on best-of lists. Among their hits are “Slow Down,” “Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down” and “Don’t Let It Go To Your Head.”
