Every time Judge Judy Sheindlin bangs her gavel, the sound she’s really hearing is “cha-ching!”
Sheindlin, of Greenwich, makes a whopping $47 million per year — almost $129,000 per day of work — to sassily chastise those locked in petty disputes on the daytime show that bears her name.
The information comes from TV Guide’s “Who Earns What” list of highest paid stars, which puts “The Daily Show’s” Jon Stewart in second with $25 million to $30 million and NBC’s Matt Lauer in third with a salary of $22 million to $25 million.
Stephen Battaglio, TV Guide’s business editor and author of the list, states that “Judge Judy” generates about $200 million in ad revenue for CBS, but costs just $10 million per year to produce, before factoring in Sheindlin’s salary.
“I’m here because I’m smart, not because I’m young and gorgeous . . . although I am!” Sheindlin sometimes remarks.
Looks like she’s also there because she makes her network a ton of money.
