Celebrity chef Aaron Sanchez opening Stamford restaurant

|

There’s no bigger fan of spicy food then Aarón Sanchez, who zips from coast to coast to sample America’s most mouth-burning plates on Food Network’s “Heat Seekers.”

Now, the celebrity chef is bringing his love for all things spicy to Stamford.

Sanchez plans to open Alegre — a high-end restaurant and cocktail/wine lounge — in Harbor Point’s Waterfront Square this spring or summer, according to a report from CT Bites.

The restaurant will take over the 6,000-square-foot glass building from the Beer Garden @ Harbor Point, which is closing.

Alegre is the latest establishment to stake a claim in Stamford’s burgeoning South End. World of Beer, a national franchise offering upwards of 50 rotating taps and 500 bottled brews, is also set to open in the neighborhood, as is Bareburger, an organic burger bar.
