Greenwich’s Blue Sky Studios nominated for Visual Effects Society Awards


The Greenwich studio behind the monster visuals in the animated film, “Epic”, is basking in some well-deserved kudos.

Blue Sky Studios racked up four Visual Effects Society Awards nominations for their work on “Epic,” including Outstanding Animated Character (Bomba and Mary Katherine), Outstanding FX and Simulation (the Boggan crowds) and Outstanding Created Environment (Pod patches).

The VES Awards will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

Directed by Chris Wedge, “Epic” follows a young girl who is transported to a secret universe where she joins forces with a team of whimsical creatures to battle the forces of evil that are trying to destroy their world.

The film stars the voices of Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrell, Christoph Waltz, Aziz Ansari, Chris O’Dowd, Pitbull, Jason Sudeikis, with Steven Tyler and Beyoncé Knowles.
