LISTEN: Bridgeport’s Oh, Cassius! previews new songs from ‘Ides of March’ EP

Bridgeport duo Oh, Cassius! has been sharing their original songs in drips and drabs at their live performances for more than a year or so.

Wielding haunting folk-pop melodies threaded with gorgeous vocal harmonies, guitarist/vocalist John Torres and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Meredith DiMenna created a lot of anticipation for their first studio-recorded material (so much so, that they actually took home the award for ‘Best Other’ at the Connecticut Music Awards last year).

And now, we finally have it in a pair of majestic new tracks from their yet-to-be-released debut EP, “Ides of March.”

The EP was recorded mostly at Carriage House Studios in Stamford and produced by Brendan Muldowney, a Grammy-nominated producer and Connecticut resident who has worked with the likes of Gov’t Mule, Violent Femmes and Elvis Costello.

“I’m so excited with how the tracks came out,” DiMenna said in an email. “I’m especially excited for John as a performer and a songwriter because I feel like I was witness to his creative realization throughout this process.”

Guests on the EP include Mates of State, Dave Eggar, Michael Libramento (Grace Potter and the Nocturnals), Chuck Palmer, Ada Pasternak and Dan Tressler.
