Derby-themed gala to aid P2P

Plans are under way for Opus for Person-to-Person’s spring benefit, “The Julep Ball,” which will take place on Saturday, May 4, at the Wee Burn Beach Club in Rowayton. The event, which supports the Darien-based Person-to-Person, will coincide with and celebrate the Kentucky Derby.
A 5:30 p.m. start will allow attendees to enjoy the televised horse race and partake in a number of related activities that will raise money for the approximately 22,000 individuals in need from neighboring communities that Person-to-Person supports on an annual basis.
Afterward, the party will continue with a southern-inspired dinner and dancing, live and silent auctions and a few special surprises.
Last year’s gala, dubbed “The Crystal Ball,” raised close to $130,000 for Person-to-Person.
Proceeds from The Julep Ball will go to Person-to-Person’s Emergency Assistance Program, which is the core of itsservices. The program provides gently-used clothing, groceries for nutritious meals and financial assistance for rent, security deposits and utility bills.
Tickets to the ball go on sale in early March. For information, visit www.opus4p2p.org.
