Observations from Jamie DeLoma, journalist and computer nerd

Need an incentive to upgrade your iPhone?

An iPhone 3G S in use.

If the economy is the only thing keeping you from upgrading to the new new iPhone 3G S, you no longer have an excuse.

A CNET blogger wrote about how to cash in on the latest and greatest Apple gadget:

“Let’s say you have the 16GB model. A quick check of Craigslist and eBay shows that the going rate for a mint-condition 16GB iPhone 3G is around $400. Now, it doesn’t take a math whiz to figure out that if you buy a 16GB iPhone 3G S for $200, you’ll walk away with a $200 profit. Grab the 32GB model and you make $100. Not too shabby, eh?”

But, as the author, Rick Broida, points out, potential sellers may find it difficult finding a buyer with the influx of used iPhones on the market.

Here are some potentially lucrative links:

NetWorth
Gazelle
Second Rotation
eBay
Craigslist

But one note of warning before you go and sell your old iPhone: be sure to keep your SIM card and clear your device’s memory before sealing the deal… or else you’ll be in for a major headache.
