The stunt of the week belongs to Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful Merrick Alpert of Mystic, whose most recent news release has him requesting a meeting with President Obama when he comes to Stamford tomorrow to be the key attraction at a fund-raiser for embattled U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd.
Barring the Blogster’s believe that he may be escorted off the scene by Secret Service agents, Alpert will be at the Stamford Hilton “and will be available for discussion with the media” at about 6 p.m. Chris Healy, the state GOP chairman, must be loving this.

Go to http://www.pondzischeme.com Mr. Obama, and your duplicitious administration will be revealed.
The IRS and the SEC have been sitting on 25 Whistleblower complaints because you are protecting UBS trading platforms used by domestic investors to avoid estate taxes.
Mr. President, you have applied different standards to different citizens in your tax compliance initiatives which protected UBS backers here in Stamford. Shameful, Mr. President, shameful

“Primary; In the United States, a preliminary election in which the candidate of a party is nominated directly by the voters. The establishment of the primary system resulted from the demand to eliminate the abuses of nomination by party conventions, which were often open to manipulation by party bosses.”
Let’s also consider that primaries have been used to make sure that any issues surrounding a candidate are brought forth BEFORE the general election. I don’t want to wait until after the primary to see how the general public (in Connecticut, a large majority are independent) feels about Senator Dodd. We cannot afford to have these issues NOT discussed. If the Democrats of Connecticut continue to want Senator Dodd, then by all means he will be our nominee. But THIS Democrat does not believe he can beat any of the Republican challengers. His name has gone from famous to infamous, and I for one will not take the risk that the independent voters of this state would rather have a Republican than a Democrat with enough baggage to fill Bradley International.
I’m surprised that anyone thinks he “may be escorted off the scene by Secret Service agents”. Considering that our President was considered a long shot, was told by party bosses NOT to challenge Hillary Clinton, and still went on to win the election makes me very ill-at-ease that he is now supporting exactly what he wanted to change. It is time for a new generation of Democrats to take control; no more corporate money, no more pandering, no more conflicting interests and lobbyists. I had hoped that President Obama would be the one to lead that charge; there is still time for him, and this former Obama staffer hopes he was not wrong.
