The Blogster wants to know the difference between “gumba” and “paisan” and the relative appropriateness of using the Italian words for “friend” to describe Lt. Gov. Mike Fedele’s use of another Italian-born executive during today’s CBIA function. Giovanni P. Tomasi, CEO of RSL Fiber Systems, LLC, which moved to Connecticut from New Hampshire was introduced by Fedele as an example of the type of industry that he wants to attract to the state.
“I would love to be able to stand up here today and say that I spoke to Bill Gates and Microsoft is moving here next week with 50,000 jobs, but I can tell you that if you elected me as your governor, that I will bring 1,000 Giovannis to Connecticut, that I will make that the cornerstone of my job. I will be the economic-developmen-job-creator-cheerleader of the state,” Fedele said.
Tomasi subsequently endorsed Fedele right then and there.
