My math says he’s had his law license for 20 years, but has been a State Rep for the last 18. That means only 2 years of full-time employment as an attorney, when the statute says you need 10.
I appreciate that Cam has done a lot of part-time work during his 18 year political career, but do those part-time efforts count as active practice? Does he have a log of how many hours he spent as my legislator, and how many he spent as an attorney?
I imagine Cam will need to go to the courts for a determinative ruling. In the meantime, just to be safe, we should consider him an unqualified candidate. (or a yet to be qualified candidate?)
Perhaps Mr. Staples should just seek an opinion from the Attorney General. Except that George Jepsen and Chris Healy will both probably object to that!
Is Cam Staples qualified to be AG?
