Energy Committee Approves Public-Hearing Requirement for Fuel Cell Sites

Trumbull residents have been up in arms over a planned fuel-cell facility in the Nichols neighborhood. The legislative Energy & Technology Committee late Tuesday afternoon approved legislation that would require the Connecticut Siting Council to hold public hearings on such facilities. Currently, when firms seek declaratory rulings from the siting council, the panel doesn’t have to hold hearings. If this bill passes the House and Senate and is signed into law by the governor, the siting council will have to stage at least one hearing in towns or/and cities where fuel cell sites are planned.
