Foley, Glassman, Report Quarterly Campaign Expenses

Today’s the day when quarterly campaign-finance reports are due.

Republican candidate for Governor Tom Foley, in a news release, said he raised $338,810 from individuals for the three months ending March 31. He has about $1.5 million on hand, after writing himself two checks totaling $2 million late last year.

“We are grateful for the very generous support we are getting from our supporters,” said Foley campaign manager Justin Clark. “We believe our first quarter results will exceed those of any other Republican candidate. Following last week’s Rasmussen Poll, it is clearer than ever that Tom is the only Republican candidate whose message is resonating with voters and after these results it is clear that he is the only one who will have the resources to win in November.”

Simsbury First Selectman Mary Glassman filed her first quarter report with the State Elections Enforcement Commission indicating more than  $131,000 was raised from 1,488 individuals “less than three months after forming her exploratory committee for statewide office. “

“We’ve had the strongest start of any candidate in the race” Glassman, the Democrats unsuccessul lieutenant governor candidate in 2006, said in a statement. “Connecticut Democrats need a candidate who can stop on a GOP frontrunner already trying to buy the Governor’s race and my strong support shows people believe I’m that person. Recent polling shows Connecticut’s general election voters want a different kind of candidate. They are tired of politicians who will say and do anything just to win elections, but want real leaders during these tough times.”
