Buddy Altobello’s in the Speaker’s Chair. Is the House a Game Show or an Auction?

The Blogster likes Rep. Buddy Altobello, D-Meriden, who is also a deputy speaker. He’s in the chair, running House business now. Altobello talks so quickly, you can’t tell whether a bill is up for auction or he’s hosting a game show of third-tier legislation. Times like this, the Blogster wants you to know that the new statue of “The Genius of Connecticut,” stands so majestically in the Capitol rotunda because Altobello, as a member of the Capitol Preservation Commission, tilted the balance on the panel, which had been leaning toward warehousing the bronze replica of the original, which stood atop the Capitol from 1878 until 1938, when it was loosened by the Hurricane of ’38, then eventually melted down during World War II.
