On Earth Day, the House Approves Paint-Recycling Legislation, Effective March 1, 2013

Lawmakers usually can’t see past the next election. Still, the Blogster looks askance at a bill that just passed the House 141-0 that would require paint manufacturers to create a statewide recycling program. But why push it out to 2013? Because they want California and/or Vermont to adopt Oregon’s similar program. It could take effect earlier, if the bills stall in Vermont and California, according to Rep. Pat Widlitz, D-Guilford, the House proponent. The bill now heads to the Senate.
