Senate Democrats Put on Faces That Could – And Did – Stop a Clock

In the realm of time management, majority Senate Democrats blew through their midnight Wednesday deadline and with the confidence, or arrogance, of a body that doesn’t anticipate a suit challenging their statutory breakage, they simply blacked out the time on their computerized tally sheets and moved on.

In all, 34 bills were passed during an after-midnight consent calendar, including 31 House bills and 3 Senate pieces.

“Those are law,” said Senate Majority Leader Martin Looney, D-New Haven, with a nearly straight face. “Because it was before 12 o’clock when they were passed.” It’s always, the Blogster believes, before midnight somewhere.
