Stamford Mayor Pavia, Like So Many Others, Forgets Independent Tom Marsh is Running for Governor

At this morning’s economic summit on the Stamford UConn campus, Mayor Michael A. Pavia declared that his city is the engine of the entire state economy. He then issued a list of more than a billion dollars in local development projects that are on the boards. The first-term Republican then indicated that either a Greenwich resident (Tom Foley) or (Dannely Malloy) the former Stamford mayor, will be the next governor.

“While I’m not in the prediction business, I’m pretty certain that the next governor will be from Fairfield County,” he said to a titter of chuckles in the GenRe Auditorium, where the Blogster imagines few knew that Chester First Selectman Tom Marsh, a former Republican, will also be on the November ballot. Unlike Foley and Malloy, Marsh wasn’t invited to the morning-long event.

Pavia called for whoever may win the governor’s race to remember Stamford wants to be a partner. “We’re not going to ask for anything frivolous,” Pavia said. “We’re not going to ask for anything superficial.”
