Citizen George Bush and Wife Laura Give $1,000 Each to Tom Foley

Last week’s campaign finance filing with the State Elections Enforcement Commission shows that Tom Foley has written another million-dollar loan to his GOP gubernatorial campaign, bringing it up to $4 million in the race that will cost the millionaire privater investor at least $6 million, if Foley’s to stay in step with Dannel Malloy, the Democratic candidate with $6 million in voluntary financing for his bid.

In the SEEC filing, in which a balance on hand of about $301,000 was reported, were personal checks written by “self-employed” George Bush of Midland Texas and his wife Laura, a “volunteer,” of a thousand bucks each. Bush first appointed Foley to the provisional authority in Iraq, then appointed him ambassador to Ireland in the last years of his administration.

Asked by the Blogster last week whether his old boss will be trying to help him out, Foley said he hadn’t been in contact with the president, but didn’t expect him to visit Connecticut during this election cycle.
