Dan Malloy’s penchant for wearing green ties has failed to pay off. The New York-based Irish Voice today endorsed Republican Tom Foley for governor. What do you expect? Foley was the ambassador to ireland under the last Bush administration. And The Edge, U2′s crafty guitarist, attended Foley’s wedding. Still, the Blogster likes the potentially equivocal nature of the second sentence:
“Foley is a former U.S. ambassador to Ireland under President George W. Bush who performed great service there and is fondly remembered. Foley brings his unique combination of diplomatic and business skills to running the statehouse in the Nutmeg State. A combination of both may well be what Connecticut needs.”
TOM FOLEY ON IRISH VOICE ENDORSEMENT
“I’m honored to have this endorsement. My family came to this country from Ireland in search of opportunity and found it. As governor, I plan to make Connecticut a place where employers want to create jobs, families can enjoy a great quality of life and young people want to stay to pursue a career. It all starts by balancing our state budget without raising taxes, changing attitudes in our state government and making Connecticut more employer friendly.”

This endorsement by Niall O’Dowd, founder of the Irish Voice is
extraordinary for Tom Foley. Niall O’Dowd is very close to the
Clinton’s and was very instrumental in the Irish Peace Process from
1993 until 1998. He acted as the intermediary between the White House
and Sinn Fein, the political party of Irish Republicans in Northern
Ireland.
It speaks volumes about Tom Foley’s character and ability, his
opponent Dan Malloy, claims to be friends with Bill Clinton.
Tome Foley was a very successful U.S. Ambassador in Dublin during
some difficult years when the Bush Administration polices were not
very popular in Europe.
Tom Foley is surging this last week before the election and independents are breaking his way.
Tom Foley will be Connecticut’s next Governor!!
