Special legislative elections most likely scheduled for March 1st or 8th

Depending on when Gov. Dannel P. Malloy issues a writ of special election, most likely Friday the 14th, the nine special legislative elections will be held 46 days later, either Tuesday March 1 or Tuesday March 8, according to Av Harris, communications director for Secretary of the State Denise W. Merrill. Currently there are six House vacancies and three in the Senate. But if Rep. Carlo Leone wins the Senate seat vacated by Andrew J. McDonald, Malloy’s chief legal counsel, there will a follow-up special election to fill Leone’s vacancy.
