A tax on TV stations? Sounds like a big-money generator, says Gov. Malloy, admitting he failed in not signing another executive order

Especially in a year like last, when tens of millions of dollars funneled into Connecticut TV stations that blithely ran one vacuuous attack ad after another. Unfortunately, Gov. Dannel Malloy was only joking this afternoon when he responded to a Channel 3 reporter’s innocent query about what kind of assistance towns and cities that have nearly blown through their snow-removal budgets, can expect from the state.

“This whole concept of taxing TV stations in order for them to sell advertising…” Malloy mused,  before turning serious. “Look, no easy answer. This is gonna hurt. This is a real hit for folks but I’m not sure that state government is gonna be in a position to help them, given our own budget constraints and the hit we’ve already taken. If I could, by executive order, say there would be no more bad weather, I would do it.”
