Healy seems eager to have Murphy as Democratic Senate candidate

Here’s some seriously over-the-top dissing toward U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy, from Chris Healy, the ever-hyperbolic GOP State Chairman.

“You Can’t Phone It In, Murph

Fifth District Congressman Chris Murphy’s entrance into the U.S. Senate race offers little to Connecticut’s voters who are growing tired of professional politicians who simply exist to run for the next office, according to Republican State Party Chairman Chris Healy Thursday.

“Congressman Murphy has never held a serious job in his life except politics and he has accomplished little – except planning his next race,” said Healy. “His vacuous approach to public service is well known. Murphy favors bigger government, higher taxes and a weak defense policy. Imagine what Chris Murphy can accomplish in the Senate.”

Healy said Murphy is an excellent candidate, fundraiser and campaigner who has sided with those Democratic leaders who believe government should run our health care and we should ignore or retreat from fighting Islamic terrorism. Murphy won the enthusiastic backing of former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who showered considerable resources on his reelection.

“While Chris Murphy managed to escape the national GOP tide, the policies he supported were thoroughly repudiated by the rest of the country,” said Healy. “When Connecticut voters find out who the real Chris Murphy is, they will realize he is nothing more than another young man in a hurry with nothing to say.”

Healy said the fact that Murphy had to “announce” his candidacy by conference call, shows he is more concerned about being beaten to the punch, than serving his constituents in the Fifth Congressional District.

“Voters will have to ask themselves – what has Chris Murphy really done to improve the lives of Connecticut families? asked Healy. “Murphy has done little more than simply exist to exist.”
