A roll call for a roll call? Welcome to the evasive General Law Committee as it launders its vote on Sunday booze sales

The vote was 13-2 against a request by Sen. John Kissel, R-Enfield, to have a roll call vote on his amendment for Sunday retails sales of alcohol. The Democratic leadership of the General Law Committee wasn’t going to go for it, so no one’s actually on the record as being against Sunday sales. Instead, the issue may live on as an amendment, after General Law didn’t put the bill on its final agenda today, but defeated it as an amendment in a voice vote.

“I can state quite affirmatively that I’ve seen a lot of interesting procedures here in 19 years, but I think that was my first roll call to see if we should have a roll call,” Kissel quipped.
