The industrial tragedy that sparked the nationwide union movement will be commemorated Friday

It’s the 100th anniversary of the infamous Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire on Friday, but you don’t have to go down to Washington Square to commemorate the horrible fire that killed 147 young women textile workers on Saturday afternoon, March 25, 1911. There will be a program in the first-floor atrium of the Legislative Office Building, starting at 4:30 p.m. There will be music, refreshments and a performance by the Colchester Community Theatre, sponsored by the Connecticut Council on Occupational Safety and Health and the Injured Workers Unite Coalition.
