Judiciary Committee debate on medical marijuana brings out a joke

The normally taciturn veteran state Rep. Mary Fritz, D-Wallingford, sort of liked the amendment, which failed in the Judiciary Committee this afternoon but would have required the University of Connecticut to supervise marijuana growing for palliative uses. In an apparent reference to the two dozen or so campus arrests on misdemenaors last night after the UConn men’s basketball team won the NCAA tournament, Fritz said “I am reluctant to have the University of Connecticut growing marijuana. I can imagine the kids lining up for student aid.”
