Task Force on Victim Privacy and the Public’s Right to Know sets public hearings

The post-Sandy Hook panel’s name is a mouthful of oxymoron and its apparently lawyer-heavy makeup resulted today in a laughable argument over minutes of the previous meeting. But the Task Force on Victim Privacy and the Public’s Right to Know is steaming ahead toward its January deadline to propose changes to Connecticut’s Freedom of Information Act, in reaction to the Newtown School massacre.

Here are the hearings:

Tuesday, October 1, from 6-8 p.m. in Hartford’s North End, in a commercial building at 2550 Main Street.

Wednesday, October 9, same times, tentatively, in the Bridgeport City Council chamber.

In addition, the task force will allow public officials and trade associations to testify during a public session before the panel’s next meeting, October 16 in the Legislative Office Building.

People who wish to be heard on the issues are asked to speak no more than three minutes and may provide written copies of their testimony if they wish.
