Chris VanDeHoef, executive director of the Connecticut Daily Newspaper Association, just told the task force on victims’ rights and the people’s right to know: “The public can best be served by knowing how first responders react to a tragedy. Information, as upsetting as it might be, must be available to the public. A murder that happens anywhere is a public act.”
