Rep. DebraLee Hovey, R-Monroe, whose district includes part of Newtown and who is a member of the Victim Privacy & Public’s Right to Know Task Force, just said the news media’s behavior during the aftermath of the Newtown school massacre was disturbing.
“The idea of the public’s need to know and the public’s intrusion versus the victims’ rights was obscene, in my mind,” said Hovey, who favors further suppression of information. “Having been there, having observed the behavior of the media was outrageous,” Hovey said. “To ask me to specificially trust the judgments of the media, I’m not willing to do that.”
