Lawmakers looking at problems of urban blight meet this afternoon in Capitol

Over the last couple of years, lawmakers led by Bridgeport Rep. Auden Grogins and Sen. Andres Ayala, in attempt to make cities more liveable, have helped support major new laws that make it easier for local officials to shutdown illegal businesses such as sexually oriented massage parlors; and chase after the owners of blighted, run-down, hazardous properties. This afternoon, at 1:30, a task force on the issue begins its work. The meeting is at 1:30 in the Legislative Office Building, Room 2-D.
